From 30 September to 2 October 2024, experts and practitioners worldwide met for the Drought Resilience +10 Conference at the WMO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. About 1000 participants from the global drought community, from which 280 participants engaged on site, exchanged knowledge, perspectives, and visions on how to enhance drought governance and management at all levels. The conference included plenum discussions, poster sessions, and various side events organized in different workstreams, each reflecting other aspects of drought management.
Associated with workstream 3 on ‘Drought impact monitoring, assessment, and forecasting’, the OUTLAST team co-organized the side event ‘Disseminating Drought Status and Outlooks Regionally and Globally’ with partners from the WMO HydroSOS team. In this interactive session, an overview of OUTLAST and its importance as a global provider to the HydroSOS web portal was presented and its value for regional and global drought management was discussed.
Additionally, a poster provided a more detailed overview of OUTLAST and its sector-specific drought hazard indicators, which enabled lively personal discussions during the lunch and coffee breaks.
