This workshop was spread over <strong>two days<\/strong>, with a huge amount to learn and take away. Our project partners from different universities and institutes attended this hybrid workshop. Over <strong>two days<\/strong> we learned the key concepts, skills, and capacities needed to design a forecasting system and how to integrate them with the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/eip.ceh.ac.uk\/hydrology\/HydroSOS\/portal\/\" target=\"_blank\">HydroSOS<\/a>&nbsp; portal. A mixture of theory and pragmatic approaches in terms of how to design a forecasting system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>During the first day (27<sup>th<\/sup> of February 2023), we discussed the forecasting system development:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Methods and approaches to be applied in the operational forecasting system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From seasonal meteorological forecasts to user-friendly, operational, and multi-sectoral drought hazard forecast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IT infrastructure and required capacities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to evaluate the operational forecasting system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our focus during the second day (28<sup>th<\/sup> of February 2023) was on the drought hazard indicators co-design:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Possible indicators to be applied in the drought hazard forecasting system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approaches to present information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stakeholders\u2019 involvement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workflow development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possible approaches to integrate OUTLAST interface with HydroSOS portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing future participatory workshops in different places with the cooperation of our pilot users\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/outlast-project.net\/?page_id=483\">Lake Victoria Basin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/outlast-project.net\/?page_id=475\">UNESCO Regional Center on Urban Water Management<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contact Us:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Prof. Dr. Stefan Siebert: stefan.siebert@uni-goettingen.de<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neda Abbasi: neda.abbasi@agr.uni-goettingen.de<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our first workshop happened on the 27th and 28th of February 2023 in a Hybrid format (In-person in G\u00f6ttingen and virtually in Zoom).
